Judge Loyce Lambert-Ryan

For over 20 years, Judge Loyce Lambert-Ryan has been the presiding judge of General Sessions Criminal Court Division 15. During her time on the bench, Judge Lambert-Ryan has been focused on the administration of justice and the rights of the citizens of Shelby County. Judge Lambert-Ryan is a native Memphian and has a dedicated career in serving the community.
Justice Accomplished
She has been appointed to the Governor’s Task Force on Sentencing Guidelines and the Indigent Representation Task Force. Judge Lambert-Ryan wrote the Pandemic Plan for the General Sessions Criminal Divisions and helped to reduce jail capacity during the pandemic. She also implemented an experimental electronic filing in the General Sessions Division 15 Court.
Decades of Experience
Prior to her election in August 2000, Judge Lambert-Ryan was known as a skilled trial attorney in the legal community. She has distinguished herself as the first female attorney selected as a member of the Shelby County Public Defenders Capital Defense Team, the first female supervisor of that unit, and the first female president of the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association.
Committed to Family and Service
Judge Lambert-Ryan is involved with several community service organizations and is an active member of Parkway Gardens United Presbyterian Church. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The River City Links, and Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. She and her husband have been married for 23 years and have one daughter.
